Leaders meet in China during Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday that Ankara is working to achieve a fair and lasting resolution to the war in Ukraine, according to a statement from Turkey’s presidency.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. Erdogan stressed that previous talks in Istanbul had contributed to peace efforts and signaled Turkey’s readiness to mediate further.

They also discussed bilateral relations, negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Israel’s attacks on Gaza, and the situation in Syria, the presidency said.
