Erdoğan: Türkiye, Syria Won’t Allow Chaos

Ankara | Sept 2, 2025

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Tuesday that neither Türkiye nor Syria will tolerate groups seeking to destabilize Syria, stressing that all communities — Arabs, Kurds, Turkmens, Alawites, Sunnis, and Christians — will prevail over “war barons.”

  • Erdoğan warned that “whoever undermines this process will pay the price,” referring to YPG attempts to join Syria’s army as a bloc and push for autonomy.
  • He said Türkiye will stand by Syria’s unity, providing support to strengthen its fight against terrorist groups.
  • On Palestine, Erdoğan criticized Washington’s move to block Palestinian officials from attending the U.N. General Assembly, saying it “only pleases Israel.”
  • He reiterated Türkiye’s call to suspend Israel from international organizations over its actions in Gaza, which Ankara calls genocide.
  • On Ukraine, Erdoğan said only dialogue can end the war, citing Türkiye’s role in grain deals and prisoner swaps.
  • He expressed optimism for lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, tied to the U.S.-brokered Karabakh deal and the Zangezur Corridor project.
  • Erdoğan also highlighted growing ties with China, saying Türkiye will continue acting as a bridge between East and West.
