Türkiye on Alert After Israel’s Strike in Qatar

Ankara warns Israel’s expanding strikes could destabilize the region as Erdoğan prepares to attend Doha summit.

ISTANBUL – Türkiye is closely watching regional tensions after Israel carried out an unprecedented strike in Qatar that targeted Hamas members, Daily Sabah reported.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan joined Arab and Muslim counterparts in Doha for an emergency summit, warning that Israel’s actions risk dragging the entire region into chaos. Turkish officials say Ankara fears the “Zionist regime” may expand attacks beyond Iran, Syria, Yemen, and now Qatar.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, is expected in Doha for further talks. Analysts note that Türkiye’s NATO membership and growing military capabilities make a direct Israeli strike unlikely, but concerns remain over potential covert operations.

Experts also warn that flashpoints in Syria could put Türkiye and Israel on a collision course as both countries vie for influence after the fall of Assad’s regime.
