More than 1.1 million people have joined competitions at Teknofest Istanbul, Türkiye’s flagship aviation and technology festival, organizers said Friday.
The five-day event, co-hosted by the Industry and Technology Ministry and the Turkish Technology Team Foundation, began Sept. 17 and features contests, defense technology showcases, and air shows. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended on Sept. 19.
This year’s contests cover 58 main and 137 subcategories, with applicants competing for 65 million liras ($1.5 million) in prizes. Defense firm Aselsan highlighted its Steel Dome air defense project, along with new drone-countering systems.
Launched in 2018, Teknofest has drawn more than 11 million visitors in Türkiye and abroad.
